It's raining Americans...
I know it's summertime in the northern hemisphere. I know this because, very suddenly, Gabs is crawling with Americans.
There are some aspects of this influx I am enjoying: new friends, more apples to apples players, etc. Some of it has been professionally edifying: I had a meeting with an administrator of global health programming at University X, who invited me along to a couple of group meetings at the Ministry of Y.
And tonight is the first meeting of a three-week reading group I have organised for some undergraduates from University X who are combining summer internships with independent research projects. Admittedly, these kids are already privileged as hell (Univ. X being a private institution), but I guess I had built up a serious teaching jones. Besides, one gets tired of talking to oneself.
