habit

I know a surprising (alarming?) number of people who, in the course of writing their dissertations, have begun (or in some cases, finished) work on a novel. I am not and have never been a fiction writer, but I find myself in some old habits nonetheless...

Foucault looked up with elation,
Said, "Power: it works by gradation:
What Marx almost got,
(Why my books are fraught)
Is: We strive towards our own domination!"
Oh, it's on with Mr Bacon, by the by. And I sent my committee of advisers a set of chapter abstracts--more to get them out of my mind than anything else, because I couldn't move onto more pressing tasks until I did so.
